The Role

The Solar Maintenance Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing solar PV systems, ensuring that the PV system is operating optimally and efficiently. The technician will ensure that all work meets the highest standards and adheres to industry regulations. The technician will assist with energy auditing site visits and data collection.

Location

•Site-based role on customer sites nationwide

•Office-based in Stradbally, Co. Waterford, while not attending site

Key Responsibilities

•Perform routine inspections and maintenance on customer sites, including commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems

•Testing and maintenance of MV transformers, relays, and cables

•Testing of system components to ensure efficient operation and function

•Diagnose faults in solar systems and perform corrective actions

•Monitor system performance using software platforms and address system issues and underperformance

•Clean solar panels and remove any obstructions or debris that may affect efficiency

•Coordinate site visits with clients, maintaining schedules for inspections

•Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, service reports, and repairs

•Ensure compliance with company safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory codes

•Perform system upgrades, retrofits, or component replacements under own initiative

•Collect data for energy audits on site and input into auditing

Required Skills & Experience

•5 years’ experience on renewable energy projects or MV projects in an electrical installation, maintenance or engineering role

•Experience in MV installation, termination, and testing

•Strong understanding of solar electrical systems and components

•Full clean driving licence

•Willingness to travel to job sites

•Must be eligible to work in Ireland

•Good verbal and written communication

•Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently

•Keen interest in renewable energy and infrastructure projects

Qualifications

•Degree, diploma, or qualification in:

•Electrical Craft

•Engineering (Electrical, Energy, Instrumentation)
